who we are

In 2003, Reyna Group Home (RGH) opened its first home in Hollywood, Fla. called Mi Familia (that’s “my family” in Spanish). Eager to start making differences in the lives of children with Developmental Disabilities, John and Amy Reyna brought 4 adolescents with special needs into their home. Who knew that from this humble beginning that a reputable organization would blossom. Over the years RGH grew from a small mom and pop organization into the 5 facilities the organization oversees today. With the growth came new challenges.

In 2004, RGH was given an extremely difficult (foster care) sibling group of three; two girls and a boy. These children had failed in multiple placements, they were extremely behavioral, and there was a need to place them in a home where they could be stabilized in a structured environment. The children were placed in RGH’s Delray Beach home and the task of stabilizing the children began. These children were different from the first group of children in that they presented our organization with new challenges.

With a will to make a difference in the lives of these children and a little determination and patience the children were slowly stabilized to the point that they were no longer lashing out in anger. The children were eventually reunified with their parents and a year later  Reyna Group Home was awarded “Foster Parents of The Year” for the state of Florida in 2005 by the Florida Coalition for Children.  From that point on our organization was presented with challenging children from all over the county and in some cases the state.

Today RGH has 5 homes in two counties; Broward and Palm Beach Counties.  Licensed by two agencies, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Department of Children and Families, RGH is known for providing community-based residential services for children and adolescents with special needs in the state of Florida. RGH has also won a number of awards and received recognition from various overseeing and governmental agencies for the work RGH does. RGH and its staff are making differences in the lives of children and adolescents that everyone else has cast away, one child at a time.
