Richard Charlemon
Chief Executive Officer
Richard Charlemon, the new CEO of Reyna Group Home, has worked in Broward County’s human services community for the past 12 years. He received his Associates Degree from Broward College, Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and his Masters in Social Work at Barry University.
After graduation, Richard worked for four years at ChildNet, the non-profit child welfare agency as a Child Advocate and an Independent Living specialist where he provided case management services to South Florida's most vulnerable children.
Richard has worked at Helping Abused, neglected and Disadvantaged Youth (HANDY) for the past seven years here he held progressively responsible positions such as Life Coach, Senior Life Coach, and Community Outreach Specialist. In his most recent role, as Director of Education, Richard shepherded Florida’s most successful program connecting youth from foster, relative and non-relative care with higher education. Largely due to his efforts, 78 HANDY Scholars are studying at 22 colleges and universities across Florida and the nation.
He was named a 2014 HANDY Ambassador and in 2015, received the Community Rising Star Award from the Urban League of Broward County.
Richard mentors countless young people in the tri-county area including members of the LGBTQ community who have been abandoned by families due to cultural reasons and children and adolescents with special needs. Not only is he a mentor for young adults, but also with his peers, friends, and family. He truly believes in the word “HELP.”
